Redbus drives to top spot
Distrib cited for fast growth in Brit survey
LONDON -- Redbus Film Distribution was the U.K.'s fastest-growing
company over the past three years, according to the Fast Track 100
survey published by London's Sunday Times newspaper.
Redbus topped the list with an annualized sales growth of 286% from
1999 to 2002. Its sales in the year to July 2002 were $26.3 million,
up from $456,000 three years earlier.
Its performance in 2002 was driven primarily by the success of "Jeepers
Creepers" and "The Gift," plus the theatrical release
of "Bend It Like Beckham," which it co-produced.
"
We are delighted by this recognition and proud that we are one of the
very few British filmed-entertainment companies that are not only profitable
but making a mark on the U.K. business landscape as a whole," said
Redbus chief exec Simon Franks.
RFD is a wholly owned subsidiary of Redbus plc, which is also the largest
shareholder in the online video rental firm Video Island. Redbus is
considering the possibility of floating both RFD and Video Island.
